Company History

Company Overview:

For 30 years, GT Software has helped organizations derive the greatest business benefit from their mainframe investments by delivering cost-effective enterprise modernization, migration and data access solutions.  More than 2500 organizations across the globe use GT Software tools to lower IT and mainframe expenditures, integrate mainframe assets into new technologies such as mobile and cloud solutions, and mitigate risk associated with enterprise “lift and shift” infrastructure replacements.

GT Software year over year invests significant financial resources in research and development.  The company recently opened its new state-of-the-art global headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.  Complete with the mainframe industry’s first “mainframe observatory,” the company’s development labs are also headquartered in Atlanta, with satellite labs in Colorado and Oregon. Our global support team provides 24 X 7 X 365 access to dedicated professionals, and we work with our trusted system integration partners to ensure project management and migration success.

Whether a company wishes to leverage its existing mainframe assets and modernize “in place,” or migrate applications and data from the mainframe to an alternative platform, GT Software solutions deliver sound technology to accomplish either scenario.  We have customers that have 1000 to 5000 MIPS mainframe capacity who have undergone migration projects that yielded significant cost savings.

Business Qualifications
GT Software is a provider of migration and modernization tools and services for companies that intend to move off of their mainframe, leverage their existing investment on the mainframe, or a combination of both to drive down mainframe total cost of ownership (TCO) and reduce overall expense.  Our heritage has been one of developing and providing tools that assist in migrating online and batch applications to an environment other than the mainframe.  These tools focus on online CICS to ASP.NET conversions, providing the ability to run mainframe JCL on a lower cost windows platform, providing the ability to take mainframe VSAM data and move it to Microsoft SQL Server, and providing the ability to treat your mainframe artifacts as services and make them easily available.

We are unique in this legacy migration space, as we focus exclusively on helping organizations successfully migrate to a Microsoft .NET landing platform.  Our team has a solid mainframe background that understands and appreciates the qualities that make the mainframe a very concrete environment.  But we also have a rich background in working with Microsoft .NET, and believe that the transition from the mainframe environment to a Microsoft environment is the least risky and has the highest upside potential of any other migration.  While some of our competitors offer solutions that will allow a migration to multiple platforms (Unix, Linux, Solaris, etc.), we focus on taking full advantage of the Microsoft stack to offer a superior cost/performance alternative.  And we feel that .NET is most like the mainframe environment in terms of security, performance and ease of use.

The number of companies that offer migration options for companies has dwindled over the last decade.  While some new companies are now coming into the market, there are not many who have experience doing migrations for times longer than we have.  And while all of those companies are very solid, we feel there is an inherent difference in the solutions provided.
